iittala AA005586 (1898-1976) Born in Kuortane, Finland. Thanks to his original style and unique talents, Alvar Aalto is one of the greatest names in modern architecture and design. During his career, he designed many buildings in different parts of the world: concert halls, libraries, hospitals, museums, and private homes, including the Villa Mairea. His furniture and lamps, often starting out as a part of the buildings he designed, are produced together with Finnish Artek. The Aalto glass pieces have a multi-stage production. The non-leaded crystal is first mouth blown before going into a wooden mold to create the classic Aalto shape. The pieces are then hand cut and go through several polishing and finishing steps before they are completed, creating a piece worthy of permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art. In addition to the standard Aalto colors, each year iittala selects two new glass colors to run in limited production. Designed by: Alvar Aalto, 1936 Features: -Mouth blown non - leaded crystal. -Not dishwasher safe, hand wash only. -Height: 2.17". Guarantee: Iittala products are built for life. iittala Guarantee
